Has been a while I haven't published anything in this blog. Professional commitments and specially family ones (had 2 daughters) had kept me very busy and very happy. It has been a wonderful journey in our company (Palms Sports LLC) which is an Abu Dhabi Royal Group subsidiary. It has been such opportunity to learn about corporation functioning, professional relationship, professional behaviour, leadership, intercultural issues, management, strategic planning, class management, training periodisation, marketing and so many countless subjects involved in a business of developing people.
There are so much gratitude in my mind due to the fact that life had brought such a blessing opportunity (experience). First of all, thank you to my family and friends. You are the reason of all my happiness and joy, thanks for everything. If it wasn't for all of you I would never ever had been where I am, and for that, I will always be grateful.
Well, talking about the company, its necessary to mention some facts. Palms Sports is the outcome of a royalty's passion for martial art, HH Sheikh Tahnoon Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, son of HH Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. HH Sheikh Tahnoon Bin Zayed Al Nahyan brought Brazilian Jiu-jitsu (BJJ) to UAE in the 90's. HH Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan (his brother, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of UAE Armed Forces), once BJJ was establish in UAE, had a very good family experience with it. It was the empowerment experience of one of his family members due to training of BJJ. As a wise royalty and leader, HH Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan decided to provide the opportunity of the same experience to all his people. HH Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan's decision created the biggest people's development project through martial art that modern human history has ever had.
Palms Sports has the responsibility to manage the BJJ coaches hired to teach in the schools, army and clubs.
UAEJJF is the technical regulatory entity of the country.
Today, such project reached remarkable marks such as more than 100.000 students experienced the training, the Guinness World Record of the biggest BJJ class (more than 2500), the biggest BJJ World Tournament, the biggest BJJ World Tour, an Olympic Project BJJ had never ever had the opportunity to accomplish before, and so many other. Have been working on the operational area of this project for more than 5 years, I can tell you it is getting bigger and bigger every year.
Probably the main reason we are so proud is the influence we have been generating to the new generations of Emaratis (how people from UAE are called). Not talking only about the young Emaratis world top class athletes that will make us very proud soon on the top world competitive cenario (which by the way, already make us proud for the achievements they already have), but also for the improved changes in the behaviour of all kids, young and adults participating. We see effective change towards, better healthy habits, such as: better diet, improvement of social skills, physical exercise culture, faster and more accurate cognitive response, enlargement of attention span, resilience improvement and so many others.
